The Bible simply and starkly declares, “God is love” (1 Jn 4:8). Someone has said that this statement, “God is love,” is the most daring statement in the human language. Why is this a daring statement? Because it is so different from most nonbiblical concepts of God, which tend to be more like the stern and no-nonsense holy side of God. It is daring also because when we believe it, this leads us to risk our very self and our eternity into His merciful hands, and to rest our entire hope of heaven
